Finding Hope After the Death of an Adult Child
August 14, 2015
(GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA) – The Counseling and Education Center of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (HPCG) invites you to attend an event featuring guest speakers Lou Wallace, HPCG bereavement counselor, and Becky Kincaid, bereaved parent, on Monday, August 31, 2015, at 6 p.m. at the Lusk Center located at 2501 Summit Avenue in Greensboro.
“Both Wallace and Kincaid have experienced the death of an adult child,” said Marcia Vanard, director of the Counseling and Education Center. “This event is an opportunity for them to share with other bereaved parents their experiences, lessons learned, insights and messages of hope.”
The death of a child is one of the most painful events that an adult can experience and is linked to complicated and traumatic grief reactions. Additionally, this type of event can have long-term effects on the lives of parents.
“Parents who have lost a child can feel very alone,” said Vanard. “It’s often hard to find people who can understand or even listen to their painful story. Wallace and Kincaid certainly do understand, and they want to share their own stories with the sincere hope that in doing so they might ease another parent’s burden.”
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. To reserve a seat, please contact the Counseling and Education Center at 336.621.5565 or firstname.lastname@example.org. While there is no fee for this program, it is made possible through generous donations and funding from the United Way of Greater Greensboro. If you find value in this program, please make a gift to support HPCG’s community bereavement programs.
