Commemorative Bricks

This program began in response to some of our families searching for meaningful ways to make a lasting tribute to a loved one. Annually, commemorative bricks, engraved with the name of the person whose memory you want to honor, are installed in the walkways of our Rose Garden at Beacon Place or the Kids Path Garden.

Our lovely campus and grounds provide a comforting and healing presence for all who visit. Our gardens have been nationally recognized in Health & Garden and we believe the addition of these commemorative bricks has only enhanced our gardens’ power to comfort those who have had a loss.

Commemorative bricks may be purchased for $150. Click here to order a Commemorative Brick online, or click here for a Commemorative Brick order form.

Gifts of Stock or Other Property

Many donors find it convenient and tax-wise to give appreciated securities. Gifts of appreciated securities offer tax advantages including forgiveness of the tax on capital gain and an income tax charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities. You also can make gifts of property such as real estate, life insurance, retirement accounts, works of art, jewelry and valued collections.

A gift of appreciated securities such as stocks, mutual funds and bonds can provide attractive benefits to the donor. An outright gift of long-term appreciated securities (securities held for more than a year) avoids capital gains taxes and in many cases, the donor obtains a charitable income tax deduction equal to the market value of the donated securities.

If you wish to make a gift of stock, you will need to provide your broker with the following information:

  • Account Name: Hospice at Greensboro, Inc. (DBA Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro).

  • HPCG’s Clearing Broker: Chris Barbee at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., Chris.Barbee@opco.com, 336.574.7424.

  • Reference: [Donor’s name].

Please alert the resource development department at 336. 621.2500 before the transfer so that we can make arrangements with our broker to receive the stock, without this information, we cannot issue a tax receipt. When you call, please indicate the purpose of the contribution, such as whether it is an annual gift or if it is restricted to a specific project such as Beacon Place, Kids Path or another program.

If you have questions, please contact Paul J. Russ, MFA, CFRE, vice president of marketing and development, at 336.478.2502.
