HPCG Welcomes New Board Members

Greensboro, NC – Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (HPCG) is pleased to announce the names of three newly-elected board members as of October 1st for the 2010-2011 Term. The HPCG Board is led by Bob Newton serving in his first year as Board Chair. New members include:

Terrence B. (Terry) Akin, MBA, MSW is the Chief Operating Officer for the Moses Cone Health System (MCHS). MCHS has 7,500 employees, includes five hospitals, and numerous outpatient sites throughout the region. Akin joined MCHS in July 2009 after eight years with the Texas Health Resources System in Dallas and Ft. Worth.

Akin is presently a member of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Operating Group and a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Akin earned an MBA from the Wharton School and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania.

Karin Henderson, RN, MSN, is Service Director of Nursing Administration at Moses H. Cone Hospital with oversight for 400+ employees. Henderson has served in senior nursing leadership roles for the past twelve years, some of which include: Palliative Care, Hemodialysis, Inpatient Acute Rehab, and Oncology Unit. Henderson joined MCHS in 2005.

Henderson previously served on the Board of Directors for Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point. Henderson earned a BSN from North Carolina A&T State University, and an MSN from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Mary B. Magrinat is a Senior Consultant for Trion, an FSA and Benefits administration company, and has 30 years experience in employee benefits. Magrinat was a founding partner of Benefit Concepts, and ultimately, President and Owner of The Benefits Group.

Currently, Magrinat serves in leadership roles on the Steering Committee of the Regional Cancer Center Expansion, Eastern Music Festival Board, Women’s Professional Forum Board and United Way Toqueville Society Board. Magrinat earned a BA from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
